Cortona Sessions Wine Tour

The annual Cortona Sessions Wine Tour is a unique highlight to the Sessions that always leaves a lasting impression! The wine tour was coordinated in the past by Cortona Sessions founder Michael Kirkendoll – an enthusiast of Italian wine who has developed relationships with a number of prestigious wine makers throughout Italy, and now enjoys a second career as a sommelier and wine bar owner. Current faculty Michael Compitello and Geoffrey Deibel are now the curators and coordinators of ongoing tours.

Sessions participants and faculty are given the opportunity to spend a day visiting two wineries in the historic and renowned Tuscan wine region of Montalcino where they enjoy tastings of Rosso di Montalcino, a variety of Super Tuscan wines, and Tuscany's most important bottling:  Brunello di Montalcino. The wine tour always visits Terralsole winery where owners Mario Bollag and Athena Tergis Bollag roll out the red carpet, welcoming into their home for a beautiful, authentic Tuscan lunch, grand wine tasting, a swim in the pool, and some shared musical performances. It is truly a day not to be missed! This will take place on Thursday, June 20.

The wine tour has visited some of Tuscany's most important estates since 2010, including:

Biondi Santi
Case Basse di Soldera
Conti Costanti
Fattoria dei Barbi
Poggio Antico
Poggio di Soto
Terralsole
